The Official Hub of AAM Operations in Florida

Owned and operated by the Florida Department of Transportation, SunTrax Air is Florida’s designated headquarters for Advanced Air Mobility, and the nation’s first research and development facility dedicated to both surface and air transportation technology. Since 2021, FDOT has led statewide efforts to position Florida as the national leader in AAM, and SunTrax Air is the physical embodiment of that commitment. Strategically located just off the I-4 corridor in Polk County, outside the controlled airspace of both Tampa and Orlando International Airports, SunTrax Air is uniquely positioned to serve as the launchpad for Florida’s Aerial Network.

Integrated Industry Collaboration

With SunTrax Air, FDOT provides more than just the AAM infrastructure. The Department is
an active partner in shaping key research, informing statewide AAM policy, and ensuring that what is studied and learned at this facility drives Florida’s path to successful and safe commercial operations.

With dedicated airspace, world-class infrastructure, and a direct connection to Florida’s planned flight corridors linking Tampa, Orlando, and the Space Coast, SunTrax Air isn’t just a testing ground: it is the epicenter of Florida’s aerial future.
